She narrowly escaped a gruesome tragedy when Bollywood tried to bludgeon her brain to the size of a pea, but she ducked at the right moment and escaped miraculously unharmed. She belongs to the elitist group and it isn’t easy for the average “modern Indian woman” to relate to her experiences.

Early on, in filmy fashion, she distances herself from the “autobiographical” nature of the book, its embellishments, she warns people, real and somewhat imagined, are not entirely true to her life.stars, not because a flawless literary gem, but only for reaching out to me at the perfect moment, when I was craving for a humorous, empathetic voice with which I could identify with. Funnybones for reminding us that life is what you make of it and the most ordinary moments sometimes provide the maximum entertainment and pearls of wisdom. In this book, her husband is referred as the man of the house, her son as the prodigal son, her little daughter as the baby, which I find amusing and different. Twinkle Khanna, born in 1974 is an Indian author, newspaper columnist, film producer, former film actress and interior designer.

We then turn into the long private road that leads to our building when the rickshaw driver suddenly says, ‘Madam, that hero Akshay Kumar used to live here but now he lives in Bandra. She faces the same struggles every woman across the world does, with respect to eating habits and staying fit, not gaining weight. If she would have taken up writing since her debut in films, she would have been an established author by now having a few movies up her sleeve based on her books. Twinkle Khanna Spills Akshay Kumar, Aamir Khan's Secrets; KJo Hosts a 'Roast' at 'Mrs FunnyBones' Book Launch". Hurtling over the compound wall, a yellow ball lands in the garden as I am strolling with my sister-in-law.

So it got me thinking, had this book been written by a not so famous person would it still be so well received? But as Twinkle Khanna truthfully conveys, the roles of the New Age Indian Woman are multifaceted that require much multitasking! A regular girl in her 20's with a day job as a software engineer, who loves crafting and exercising. Although I'd got a copy in a steal deal a while ago, I only picked it up now, when I realized I was yet to embark on my India Challenge for this year. The weight jibes, confrontations with 'desi Jeeves', friends and their mothers-in-law and her reference to her husband as 'man of the house' and her son as 'the prodigal son' make this story so close to real life.Obviously, the curiosity to read a book from a celebrity turned interior designer turned author - Twinkle Khanna (daughter of celebrities Rajesh Khanna and Dimple Kapadia and wife of Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar) was always there. You can take on this book if you are in need a break, just to clear your mind and let go of everything else; you can actually finish reading this book in one sitting. There were some inferences she had drawn from her experiences in life and they were warmly expressed. Mrs Funnybones: She’s Just Like You and a Lot Like Me is a 2015 Indian non-fiction book written by former film actress Twinkle Khanna and published by Penguin India. The book is not very long, does not require the reader to do any thinking, since it’s so light and refreshing.

every night i would take this book with me on bed and read till i fall asleep with happy thoughts in mind. When I was purchasing the book I read the tagline on it "She's just like you and a lot like me" and my thoughts were how can she be a lot like me? To check if I can find some tips on the writing style and I found that the book is fit for blogging scenario rather than a book. Establishing early on that she’s done with her acting life that comes from her husband, the superstar, Akhsay Kumar saying, “You can’t act” and her agreeing to it, Twinkle has donned the role of a modern wife, who works in her swanky office, takes care of her kids (one of whom is still in diapers) and vacations abroad every June.On a quiet December evening in 1989, a bored scanner chanced upon a report of a curious bedtime conversation between Prince Charles and Camilla Parker-Bowles in which the current king made an important confession. The bits I really liked though were her advice to her son about knowing when it is time to give up, her take on women's empowerment and her thoughts on the whole unbuttoning jeans scandal. Unfailingly humourous for the most part and in places sombre, Twinkle Khanna’s colourful take on most of the daily drudgery of life definitely made me laugh. The book is full of interesting anecdotes and speckled with self-deprecating humour and witty innuendos.
